The Art of Reynaldo Artires

Born in Santiago de Cuba on May 4, 1971. At the age of one goes to live in San Miguel del Padron, Havana, until the age of 23. His mother, Margarita Reyes, artist and artisan, pass all her knowledge to him, since his inclination for drawing and everything related with art was evident. At the age of fifteen, he goes to Casa de la Cultura de San Antonio de los Banos, where he takes painting lessons for two years, broadening his knowledge in art.

He wins First place at the 1987 Literature and Painting competition at the provincial level and also, First place at the Marti and Literature competition, provincial level. In 1994 is part of the Guantanamo Exodus, enters at the Hard Times Gallery, creating many works of art. He is selected to present a work to Arturo Sandoval on his trip to Guantanamo. In 1995 he arrives at the United States and joins the Art Instruction School on May of 2000.

He obtains the Blue Ribbon Art Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Skills, graduating on October 18 of 2000. From that moment on he creates numerous works of art like “HIV Politico in Cuba” (9x 12”) board, sold in $1,900.00. “Almas Gemelas” (19 x 24”) script type over board, sold in $2,500.00. “Bendicion Divina” (30 x 40”), ink on board, sold in $7,500.00. “Retrato a Shakira” (19 x 24”), script type over board, sold in $4,500.00 and many other works that belong to his own collection. On December 7, 2011 takes part in the Exposition at 400 South Pointe Revolving Door in favor of children with problems. On October 2010 starts the project “Amor al Arte” at 8th Street and 15th Avenue SW of Miami, Sponsored by Irela Roldan and Amaury Gutierrez ending January 26, 2012.
